The Journal of Cosmetic Surgery & Medicine is a peer-reviewed journal and welcomes original articles and reviews including clinical updates, practice tips and treatment reviews of up to 2000 words (excluding references, tables and figures). Quality research papers from cosmetic surgeons and cosmetic physicians are especially encouraged. A number of articles are commissioned each issue for a specific topic. All manuscripts are considered for publication with the understanding that they are subject to peer review and are the original work of the author. Presentation of the manuscript Authors should provide final copy in electronic form. Document text should be saved in Microsoft Word and sent as an attachment to journal@jcsmonline.com Documents should be double spaced throughout and contain the following elements: Title Page Abstract Text References Figure Legends Figures Tables Title page The title should be short, relevant to the article and designed to interest the reader. Include on the title page a brief curriculum vitae for each author including name, qualifications, current appointments and place of practice. Also indicate the name, address and email address of the author to whom correspondence should be sent and a photograph of the lead author. Abstract This should be 150 words or less and be semi-structured with the following headings: Background (relevant work and purpose of the article), Objective (summarizing the issues raised in the article) and Discussion (the author’s interpretation of the topic). Research and original papers should have a structured abstract consisting of: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Text Drugs must be referred to generically. The usual trade name may be included in parentheses. All references, figures and tables must be cited in the text. Do not use abbreviations or acronyms. Headings and subheadings may be used in the text. References These should be limited to the work cited in the text. Do not include a bibliography of the subject. Personal communications and unpublished material are not acceptable as references. Each reference should conform to the Vancouver style and should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Illustrations Diagrams, line drawings, photographs or flow charts are valuable but subject to editorial approval. The preferred format is TIF, EPS or JPEG, all at a minimum of 300DP . Illustrations should carry an appropriate figure number. Figure legends should be no more than 20 words. Permissions Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce published or copyright material and appropriate consents from patients whose photographs may be used in the article. Authors indemnify the publishers against any action for copyright or consent issues. Authors of research papers are to disclose any sponsorship or funding arrangements relating to their research and all authors should disclose any possible conflicts of interest. All submissions once accepted become the copyright property of the Publisher and cannot be reproduced in part or in whole without written permission. Editing All manuscripts are subject to peer review and editing for length, clarity and conformity in accordance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (JAMA 1993; 269: 2282-6).
